...for giving me another year in my life. I celebrated my birthday the 5th of this month but it was just a simple celebration. Hubby got out of the hospital on the day of my birthday. We spent a fortune for his hospitalization that's why he was not able to buy a gift for me. But I'm thankful to God because hubby is fine now and the doctors didn't find any serious illness in him except an inflamed colon due to colitis.
Last year during my birthday, hubby gave me silver jewelries as my birthday present, a matching silver necklace and bracelet with crystal stones that glitter like diamonds. They were so pretty and I like them. Before my birthday, I told my hubby that I'm not requesting any particular gift like I used to. I told him it's up to him what he wants to give me. So I was surprised when he gave me the jewelries. I hugged and kissed him. He asked me if I like his gifts. Of course I do like it. Hubby knows that I love jewelries. But my hubby is the best gift that God has given me. I won't trade him for anything else.
I thank God for everything. I thank God for all the years that He has given me and I thank Him for my life. Without Him I won't be in this world.
I just want to reminisce our weekend getaway in Oklahoma two years ago. Our Sunday School teacher Bro. Hugh & his wife Ms. Mareta invited us to attend the Balloon Festival in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on August 17-19, 2007. They rented a vacation cottage house in Cookson Hill, OK, about 12 miles from Tahlequah and a 5 hour drive from Wichita Falls where we lived. We left in the morning but we had to stop by at the commissary at Sheppard AF base to buy some ingredients for lumpia. Ms. Mareta wanted me to teach her how to make lumpia because she love the lumpia that I made which I gave her several times. On the way, we stopped by at Pancho's Mexican Buffet restaurant in Oklahoma City for lunch. Ms. Mareta paid our lunch that day. When we finally reached our destination, we saw this house which was called Lawley House and we stayed here for 2 nights.
The house has 3 bedrooms and all the rooms are clean and bright with large windows. The kitchen was furnished with gas range, ref, and all amenities are included in the house such as linens, towels, washer & dryer, flat iron & board, tv, dishes, cookwares and utensils so we were able to cook our breakfast.
We really like the house, it’s old but updated, clean and well decorated. There was even a pear tree in front of the house which according to the owner was already 110 years old but it was still bearing fruits. It’s so peaceful and quiet in that place and there were lots of trees in that area so it’s cooler there. It’s like a home away from home.
